Q1:Are your combs made of 100% genuine horn? How can I tell if it's authentic?
· We guarantee all our combs are made from 100% natural horn, with no additives. You can identify genuine horn by:
o The Smell Test: Gently heat an inconspicuous part of the comb with a lighter. Real horn will smell like burning hair or nails (a protein smell), while plastic will emit a sharp, chemical odor.
o The Grain Test: Real horn has unique, natural grain patterns—stripes or spots—that are unique to each comb. Plastic combs have uniform, repeating patterns.
o The Temperature Test: Horn, being keratin, feels warm and smooth to the touch, unlike cold plastic.
o The Static Test: Comb your hair with a horn comb; it generates minimal static electricity. Plastic combs create significant static.
Q2:What type of horn is used for the combs?
· Our combs are primarily made from water buffalo horn and cattle horn. Water buffalo horn is denser and heavier with a deep black, glossy finish. Cattle horn often has richer grain patterns and comes in amber/yellowish, semi-translucent hues. Both are excellent materials for comb making.

· Horn is a natural material. Proper care will maintain its luster:
o Avoid Heat & Sunlight: Never leave the comb near heaters, in hot cars, or in direct sunlight, as this can cause drying and cracking.
o Avoid Prolonged Water Exposure: If the comb gets wet, wipe it dry immediately with a soft cloth and let it air dry in a cool, ventilated place. Do not soak it in water.
o Regular Oiling: Apply a tiny amount of oil (e.g., olive oil, baby oil, or hand cream) monthly. Wipe off the excess after a few minutes to keep the horn moisturized and prevent cracking.
o Handle with Care: Avoid dropping it or knocking it against hard surfaces.
Q7:My comb has developed some fine lines/cracks. Is this normal?
· In very dry environments, natural, fine "hairline" lines may appear in the horn. This is characteristic of the material and usually does not affect functionality. Regular oiling can significantly minimize and prevent this. However, if you receive a comb with abnormal cracking, please contact us immediately.
